A Japanese wood folk shrine and image of Daikoku, god of good fortune. The simple architectural form with a roof with heavy patina from exposure to smoke of the kitchen fires. The underside with an inscription which includes a date of anei era, 7th year, 5th month, 12th day. The shrine including a small carved wooden image of Daikoku. He holds his lucky wish granting mallet. Edo Period (1600-1868) dated 1778 (7th year of anei era) 5 ¾” high
